- Crown gall identified as large outgrowths above the soil line on the stem, between the root and stem, is caused by Agrobacterium tumefaciens
Soil fumigation/ Oxy-fumigation:
Disinfection in apple cultivation by soil fumigation method is done by spraying a diluted solution of Alstasan Silvox uniformly on the moistened soil beds dug in pits. Helps in the treatment of the following:

- Crown gall identified as large outgrowths above the soil line on the stem, between the root and stem, is caused by Agrobacterium tumefaciens
- Bacterial Wilt, identified by yellow wilted leaves resulting in defoliation. It is caused by Pseudomonas solanacearum
Regular treatment by Drip method:
The disinfectant is added to irrigation water and fed to the soil bed through drip line/ through sprinklers. It is advised to repeat this process once in every 15 days.
- Phytophthora crown and root rot, by Phytophthora sp., causes wilting; reduces growth; discolouration of bark
- Anthracnose/ Bull's eye rot, by Cryptosporiopsis curvispora is seen s small sunken water soaked lesions on the fruit surfaces, light brown in colour
