Irrigation is the artificial water supplement to agricultural plants in periods of inadequate rainfall, or dry soil areas. Because good quality water is intensively used, irrigation water is forced to rely mostly on sub-standard water supplies, requiring their timely disinfection as water carries many undesirable microorganisms which reduce crop yield.
